An American birthday

An American Birthday
In the truest sense, freedom cannot be bestowed; it must be achieved .Franklin D. Roosevelt, Speech, September 22, 1936 32nd president of US (1882 - 1945)

FDR spoke of freedom in the truest sense . 73 years ago this was a quote from his speech . Only 3 years before Poland was invaded by Nazi Germany . The freedom that was paid for so dearly 70 years ago in Europe , Africa and the Middle East . Is the same we paid for on our own soil more then 233 years ago . It is the same all over the world . It was won by sacrifice , belief and the blood of our sons . It is the same today , and it was the same a thousand years ago . Freedom comes at a cost . A cost that compares to no other . So on our 233rd year of freedom , let us celebrate and give thanks . Fly " Old Glory " proudly . Lets share our pride with all Americans , old and new . For we are here for the same thing . Freedom . God bless us and keep us .
